FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is biltong?
Biltong is a traditional South African dried meat snack made by curing and air-drying high-quality beef or game. It’s seasoned with vinegar and spices like coriander and black pepper, then dried slowly to develop a tender, flavorful texture.
How is biltong different from beef jerky?
Unlike jerky, which is usually smoked or quickly dehydrated and often contains sugar and preservatives, biltong is air-dried naturally over days or weeks with simple ingredients, resulting in a richer flavor, tender texture, and fewer additives.
What types of meat do you use?
We only use premium grass-fed beef, known for its superior flavor and quality. For our biltong, we stick to the traditional silverside cut, which is perfect for air drying and results in tender, flavorful biltong. Occasionally, we also offer other authentic South African game meats when available. All our meat is carefully sourced for freshness and quality.
How is your biltong sliced?
Our biltong is freshly sliced to your exact specifications — whether you prefer thick cuts for a chewy bite or thin slices for snacking, we tailor it to your liking with every order.
Is biltong healthy?
Yes! Biltong is high in protein, low in sugar, and contains essential vitamins and minerals like iron and zinc. It’s a great low-carb snack option. However, if you have dietary restrictions, check our ingredient lists carefully, as some spices may contain gluten.
How should I store my biltong?
For best freshness, keep your biltong in an airtight container or resealable bag at room temperature if you plan to consume it within a week or two. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze it to maintain quality. You can also look at our biltong storage page.
How long does biltong last?
Properly stored, biltong can last several weeks at room temperature and even longer when refrigerated or frozen. Our packaging is designed to help maintain freshness during shipping and storage.
Can I order custom cuts or spice blends?
Yes! We’re happy to accommodate special requests for thickness and seasoning preferences. Just let us know your preferences when ordering or contact us directly.
How long does processing and delivery take for freshly prepared meats?
We take great care to process your order fresh the very same day it’s received whenever possible. Once processed, your order is booked in with your preferred courier for delivery.
Typically, courier transit takes 1–2 days within the UK. However, please note that while we do everything we can to get your order out promptly, we cannot control courier delays once the parcel has been collected.
During peak seasons, holidays, or high demand periods, delays can occur — these are unfortunately out of our hands. We appreciate your understanding and recommend ordering early during busy times to avoid disappointment.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we only ship within the United Kingdom to ensure your biltong arrives fresh and at the highest quality.
What is your returns policy for freshly sliced biltong?
Because our biltong is freshly sliced and packed to order for maximum freshness and quality, we generally cannot accept returns or exchanges on sliced meat. However, if there is an issue with your order, please contact us within 7 days of receipt — we’re committed to making it right.
What if I’m not satisfied with my order?
Customer satisfaction is our priority. If you have any issues with your order, please contact us within 7 days of receipt so we can help resolve the problem.
Can I reheat biltong or other dried meats?
Biltong is typically eaten as a cold snack and doesn’t require reheating. Heating can dry it out further and affect the texture. We recommend enjoying it straight from the packet or at room temperature for the best flavor.
Are your biltong and meats suitable for keto or low-carb diets?
Yes! Our biltong and freshly prepared meats are naturally low in carbohydrates and high in protein, making them an excellent snack choice for keto, low-carb, and paleo diets.

Do you use any preservatives or artificial additives?
